KEY JOB DETAILS

POSITION: Logistics Operations Manager / Transport Officer

COMPANY: UVITECH Logistics

LOCATION: Tema, Greater Accra, Ghana (On-site, full-time)

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, Performance-Based (No Fixed Salary)

COMPENSATION: 20% of Business Net Operating Income

ABOUT UVITECH LOGISTICS

UVITECH Logistics is a 1-truck container haulage operation at Tema Port. We’re looking for ONE exceptional operator who can take this business to exponential growth and scale.

We haul containers for clearing agents, freight forwarders, and import/export companies within the Greater Accra Region. We are currently considering inter-regional freights.

THE ROLE — EXACTLY WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will own the entire daily logistics operation:

TRIP SCHEDULING & DISPATCH

• Target 20–24 trips per month (achievable with good operations)

• Source jobs from clearing agents, freight forwarders, manufacturing clients

• Negotiate very high rates in line with GPRTU rates

• Coordinate with driver, ensure smooth execution, collect and forward payment

RATE NEGOTIATION

• You negotiate rates directly with clients/agents with approval from senior management

• Better rates = higher NOI = higher your pay

CLIENT RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

• Build recurring relationships with 3–5 anchor clients (10+ trips/month each)

• Anchor clients provide stability, better rates, priority loading

• Example: Secure a client doing 12 trips/month at GHS 3,500 = GHS 42K/month guaranteed from one client alone

EXPENSE CONTROL

• Monitor fuel consumption

• Negotiate maintenance costs with mechanics

• Manage driver allowance

• Track all receipts (no receipt = expense not deducted from your NOI)

PAYMENT COLLECTION

• Chase clients for payment (critical — you don’t earn until money is collected)

• Target: 100% collection within 7 days of trip completion

• Late payments reduce your NOI calculation

DRIVER COORDINATION

• Work with your assigned driver daily

• Ensure vehicle maintenance is done and vehicle is in good shape

• Monitor fuel efficiency, report any issues

REPORTING

• Submit monthly performance report (trip logs, fuel receipts, payment status)

• Track NOI calculation with owner

• Verify numbers before salary payment

This is NOT a desk job. You’ll be on the phone, at the port, following up with clients.

COMPENSATION — EXACTLY HOW YOU GET PAID

Formula (No Hidden Clause):Your Monthly Payment = 20% × Net Operating Income (NOI)

Where NOI = Revenue Collected − Verified Operating Expenses

WHAT COUNTS AS OPERATING EXPENSES:

• Fuel (with receipt)

• Driver trip allowance (with sign-off)

• Driver salary (GHS 5,913/month, fixed)

• Maintenance & tyres (with invoice)

• Port/toll charges (with receipt)

WHAT DOES NOT COUNT:

• Anything without a receipt

• Your manager commission (20% calculated on final NOI)

• Alleged or promised payments (only actual bank deposits count as revenue)

PAYMENT TIMING:

Month ends (e.g., March 31) → You submit trip logs, fuel receipts, payment records (by April 1) → Owner verifies numbers (April 1–3) → NOI calculated, your payment determined (April 3) → Payment issued (April 5)

COMMON QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q: Why no fixed salary?

A: Because we align risk. You succeed when the business succeeds. No dead weight. If you’re good, you’ll make 2–3× what fixed-salary coordinators earn.

Q: What if I don’t hit 20 trips in month 1?

A: You earn 20% of whatever NOI is generated. If 15 trips happen, you earn 20% of that NOI. If 25 trips happen, you earn 20% of that NOI. Pure profit-sharing, but based on your performance you may be asked to stop if the right performance is not seen.

Q: What if a client doesn’t pay?

A: That revenue doesn’t count in NOI until it’s in the bank. This incentivizes you to collect aggressively.

Q: What happens if I reach GHS 25,000 NOI threshold and then drop below it?

A: Two consecutive months below GHS 25,000 will lead to a  termination. We won’t keep underperformers.

Q: Can I negotiate the 20% commission?

A: No. This is the structure. However, if you hit specific NOI targets consistently we can discuss an increase.

Q: Is the driver my employee?

A: No. You coordinate with the driver. The driver has their own salary arrangement. You don’t hire/fire the driver, but you manage daily operations.

Q: Will you micromanage me?

A: No. You own the operation. Monthly review, that’s it. You decide which trips, which clients, which rates (within business guidelines).

Q: What if the truck breaks down?

A:  Major repairs (engine, gearbox) come from business capital, not your commission. You’re not responsible for truck repairs — that’s the owner expense.

Q: How many hours/week?

A: You’re working the operation 6 days/week (port is open 6 days). Average: 40–50 hours/week.

Q: Can I work from home?

A: No. You need to be at Tema Port, on-site, coordinating daily.

Q: What’s the dress code?

A: Casual business (polo shirt, shorts/trousers, closed shoes). You’re at the port.

Q: Are there other benefits (health, pension, etc.)?

A: No. This is performance-based compensation, not employment with benefits. You receive 20% of NOI.

Q: What if the business loses money?

A: Net Operating Income can’t be negative (revenue is collected, expenses are fixed). Worst case: you make GHS 0 for a month. Best case: NOI is GHS 70K+.

Q: When do I get paid?

A: Payment calculation takes ~3 hours (verify bank deposits, receipts, reconcile). We pay on the 5th of the month. Honest: 5 days maximum from month-end.
